Backing up your Data

iCloud backups are whole-device backups and can be used to restore every bit of data onto a new or existing  iPhone.

iPhone makes backing up data very simple with their iCloud online backup features. These backups are encrypted and only accessible through the proper iCloud account login. Do not confuse iCloud backups with the Photo Stream feature which allows for photos taken to automatically upload into iCloud's photo library. iCloud backups are whole-device backups and can be used to restore every bit of data onto a new or existing iPhone.

The amount of time it takes to backup the iPhone depends on the amount of data, but you can set it and forget it because it will continue to backup data while you move onto other tasks. iCloud storage is limited, can be upgrade for a minimal monthly fee. The first upgrade is $0.99 per month and unlocks up to 50 GB (gigabytes) of storage. Back up your data today, don't wait for the crucial moment to happen when data can be lost forever.

Maximizing Battery Life

Maximizing the iPhone battery life helps keep the phone going stronger for longer, which means cost savings in the end.

Everyone wants the best battery life for their iPhone. To maximize battery life, we have some simple things to try. Keep your screen brightness below the half mark. This will use less power to light up the iPhone screen. More brightness equals more power consumption. Put your screen lock on the lowest acceptable setting for yourself. Everyone has that sweet spot where the screen lock is not too short, but also not too long. The longer the iPhone screen is on then the more battery is used in the idle time between uses.

People check their phones on average once every 4 minutes, or 15 times an hour. The lock screen idle timer adds up over the course of the day and can easily compound into hours of iPhone screen usage that the battery is responsible for powering. To truly maximize the battery life of any iPhone try to only charge it from 30% to about 80%, not from below 30% and never to 100%. The reasoning is that there is less wear and tear on the battery to produce a charge in those mid-range percentiles due to ambient battery temperatures. Maximizing the iPhone battery life helps keep the phone going stronger for longer, which means cost savings in the end.

Wi-Fi Calling & Increasing Service Coverage

With Wi-Fi Calling enabled, public Wi-Fi hotspots become a permanent extension of iPhone cell service coverage.

This little trick could be the difference between getting your iPhone calls and text messages or missing them. Service coverage can be spotty at times, but often these spotty areas will have accessible Wi-Fi. Turn on Wi-Fi Calling to use the local wireless network as an extension of your coverage map. It will use the internet connection to make and receive calls. Most cellular carriers allow this type of connection because of the importance of receiving calls and texts, even in a dead zone. Even better, there are companies who now offer public Wi-Fi hotspots that are cropping up everywhere. With Wi-Fi Calling enabled, these public Wi-Fi hotspots become a permanent extension of cellular service coverage. To see if your iPhone is on cellular or Wi-Fi Calling, look at the top of the phone where the service bars reside and it should be clear if the Wi-Fi Calling is working.

Syncing iCloud Benefits and Features

Having iCloud synced across multiple devices will increase productivity and make sure iPhone users are not missing important messages.

When you sync your phone or other device to the iCloud, then the data is accessible on any other device which is also tied to that iCloud account. This can be useful for iMessage, e-mail, contacts, notes, pictures, and other data which iCloud is responsible for keeping. With iCloud synced to all of your devices, if you get an iMessage text on your phone then it will appear on all of those devices. Additional benefits and features of iCloud include calendar events and reminders, bookmarks in the internet browser Safari, and files such as documents or PDFs which are stored in the iCloud drive. Having iCloud synced across multiple devices will increase productivity and make sure iPhone users are not missing important messages.

Speeding up iPhone and Improving Performance

Applications may stay open in the background taking up precious iPhone processing power. Giving your iPhone a full restart helps increase performance.

Most people struggle with iPhones that are slowing down or decreasing in performance over the course of time. One of the things commonly missed are the background applications that are not closed. During the normal use of the iPhone, we use the home button or swipe up to minimize the current application. These applications stay open in the background taking up precious processing power. To keep your iPhone running smoothly, double tap the home button or slide up from the bottom to the middle of the screen and hold it there for a moment to bring up all of the background applications. Then slide up on each application window to close it. Additionally, if the iPhone continues to be slow or decrease in performance then try turning the phone off completely and restarting it.

Turning the phone off is different from pressing the power button to shut off the screen. Shutting off the screen does not shut off the phone, it only puts the phone in standby mode. Giving your iPhone a full restart by holding the power button and selecting shut down or restart helps increase performance by giving the phone a fresh start.

Selecting a Good Case for your iPhone

Cases that protect iPhones are a huge deal because it means cost-savings by avoiding damages and hefty repairs.

iPhone accessories seems like a fashion statement, but it's more important to keep your device protected than being a fashion diva. The right case will offer at least ten-foot drop protection and should have an edge guard that prevents the screen scratching when placed face-down. This edge will also serve as a protector for the edges and maximize the protection of the iPhone. The material used matters a lot as well. If it's a thin flimsy piece of plastic then it might have a cool design, but it should not be expected to protect the phone from an actual drop. Many of the trusted case manufacturers such as Cell Helmet offer a variety of solid colors such as blue, green, black, clear, and red. Very few people take advantage of the built-in call forwarding feature of the iPhone operating system. This feature allows you to forward calls to any phone number. To access this feature, go into the Settings of the iPhone and scroll down until you see the Phone app. It's green with a phone symbol. Open that app and you will see a selection of settings, one of which will be Call Forwarding. Tap on Call Forwarding and follow the prompts. Screen Issues

When the screen starts acting up, you may not be able to see incoming calls or texts, or maybe the iPhone stops taking your touch input.

The screen is the most vital part of the iPhone because everything displays on the screen. When it starts acting up, you may not be able to see incoming calls or texts, or maybe the screen stops taking your touch input. It's all very frustrating when the iPhone is not working properly. Rest assured that iPhone screen repair is our specialty at Genius CPR. Before you bring it into a trusted iPhone screen repair shop near me, try restarting the iPhone first. Do that by holding the power button and home button or power button and volume down button until the phone restarts. Sometimes that will bring back the screen to full function if it was a glitch. Also try charging the iPhone, because if the battery is depleted then it will not be able to power on the iPhone screen. If the screen is cracked, chipped, or has other imperfections then it is possible that the touch input is affected. This condition could worsen as time progresses even without further provocation and may force the hand for a screen replacement or screen repair.

Software Update Issues

There are a couple reasons why iPhone software updates can fail such as low storage, system memory errors, or corrupted download.

iPhones update their software about every quarter, more or less. These software updates usually include now quality of life (QOL) improvements or additional features to enhance an already existing app or function. Software updates can be stressful if they will not go through or if they fail to install. There are a couple reasons why software updates can fail such as low storage, system memory errors, or corrupted download. Low storage error will occur if there is not enough storage to download the update. This happens after owning a phone for a while and using up the limited storage. iPhone storage is not expandable, so the storage either must be cleaned out to make room for the update or it might be time to get a different phone with bigger storage. To clean out storage, first make sure your pictures are backed up in iTunes or on the iCloud. Then start to delete unwanted items to clear the storage. If the system has memory errors or a corrupted download, then simply restart the iPhone to clear those errors. Once the phone starts back up it should re-download the update. If that continues to fail, then updating it by connecting the iPhone to a computer and using iTunes is the last resort.

Overheating Issues

The common reason for iPhone overheating is the battery. Batteries are consumed over time and get worse and worse the most you use the iPhone. Heat is a byproduct of electricity and resistance.

Lots of different devices use Bluetooth to transmit data wirelessly to and from the iPhone. These devices could be headphones, earbuds, wireless speaker, keyboard, mouse, watch, writing utensil, tracking device, and even a vehicle.

Lots of different devices use Bluetooth to transmit data wirelessly to and from the iPhone. These devices could be headphones, earbuds, wireless speaker, keyboard, mouse, watch, writing utensil, tracking device, and even a vehicle. These various devices will remember your iPhone and try to pair with it when in proximity. Sometimes the proximity is close enough to pair but not close enough for a good transmission signal. The iPhone can only connect to one Bluetooth device at a time, so there can be errors caused by the connecting of multiple Bluetooth devices. It can be tough to figure it out, but the first step is start unpairing and forgetting devices which you do not commonly connect. If that resolves the issue, then great, but to further troubleshoot try toggling off the Bluetooth on the iPhone, then toggling it back on. This can reset the Bluetooth signal in the iPhone and allow the devices to re-pair. Charging these wireless devices is also very important to having a strong signal distance. Low charge on wireless devices causes bad signal and transmission, which can lead to intermittent connections. Ultimately, it may be time for a new device. More Info

Released on June 29, 2007 the first iPhone blew up the idea of the cell phone by putting a personal computer/phone/assistant at your fingertips at all times. This pioneered the push to the modern era of the smartphone. Since its initial release in 2007, there have been many iterations of the iPhone, released (mostly) on an annual cycle. Each rendition has added new features, faster processing, and improved graphics.

Every iPhone model has a different level of repairability. For example, the 3GS’s front glass is replaceable separate from the display assembly (glass panels in later models are not), while the iPhone 4 provided easier repair of the rear panel and battery. Newer iPhones like the iPhone 11 have rear glass panels that are notoriously difficult to repair. With each new design iteration, new iPhone repair challenges arise, and old ones are remedied.

Though Apple may tell you otherwise, all these devices are repairable at Genius CPR. You can also solve common problems with the help of our repair guides, found in each of the device pages above.

The most often replaced iPhone parts are the screen, battery, charging port, speaker, microphone, and screws.
